We used to spend all of our 4th of July weekends happily on the beaches of Newport and Huntington, yet ever since we got Copper, we’ve been confined to our own home/city for the holiday weekend. (No one wants to babysit a dog over 4th of July weekend, plus we were saving up our dog sitting time for our Europe trip)
We informed our friends of our 4th of July situation and invited any and all to stay at our place for the weekend should they have no interest in spending their days lying on the beach in the sun. Well, you can imagine our shock when our weekend turned out to include 14 people (counting us) and 4 dogs (including Copper)!
Obviously, the entire weekend ended up being a blast. On Saturday morning, 6 of us set out to shop for the day. (The girls went to the outlet mall, while the guys scoped out Fry’s & Best Buy)
Saturday night we headed to the Del Mar Fair for games, fair food and the Jeff Dunham Show. (Thanks again to Jason for getting us tickets and backstage meet-and-greets!)

{Which do you think is the grossiest?!}
Sunday was spent at our house - eating, drinking, karaoking, more eating, Fifa soccer, apples-to-apples, even more eating and so on. We finished off the night watching fireworks at the top of our hill.

{A rare site}
Although it’s usually a ton of work to get the house ready for people and festivities, we are truly lucky to have such wonderful friends who contributed drinks and food to the weekend, as well as, being super helpful with cooking and cleaning. Thanks everyone for a great Independence Day Weekend! We can’t wait to do it again next year at someone else’s house. ;)
PS - This chalkboard in our dining room displayed text from the Declaration of Independence; however, our guests (Brad included) had some wild guesses as to where the quote came from- ie: The Constitution, Preamble and Pursuit of Happyness (the movie).
PPS - Meg & I also managed to sneak in a showing of Eclipse on the Monday after the 4th of July!
Such a fun weekend! I love that the dogs even look passed out. Lindsey, I think you took the Vampire thing too far... Red contacts... haha jk.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me you hated Eclipse as much as I did, seems like you had a wonderful fourth of July. How you managed to get that Dog to lay down is beyond me....
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha loooooooove your pictures! your camera is so awesome. woohoo eclipse!
